Online Marketing - Learning to Leverage the Organic Power of Facebook

I started out on Facebook just as almost everyone else did. I opened an account, started finding other friends on the site and start communicating with them mostly by - I guess you could call it - Blog posting as a lot of what Facebook is really about at its base is a social platform - a blog site.

I was starting an online business and my initial focus when getting going was to write some articles, publish them to get known and then build them into books and market them on Amazon-Kindle. I did not have much more of a strategy than that in the beginning - I had just always wanted to write and publish a book. A bucket list item.

As I began to delve in further into the world of Facebook - and this spans time - over the last couple of years in fact - I became aware of just how powerful this platform really is from a business and product marketing perspective. And I have learned a lot about the platform to date - yet I am constantly learning more things I can do on it to further my brand awareness and even close sales right on the platform itself. With this in mind, I want to share with you some ideas for using Facebook that you may not have thought of. Here is an initial list of ideas to get you started.

First, you must absolutely have a business page if you are trying to market or sell anything on the platform. This is your first step. Facebook frowns on you using your personal consumer site to do any business marketing - so get this done. An additional tip: Don't limit yourself to just one business page - create several if you have different categories of things to sell. I am still working to build this all out myself but I have found the time to create a main business page for my website, an "Author" page for books I write, and a couple of pages for individual "business verticals" within my online business.

Why did I do this? It increases your ability to get found. People look for and follow business verticals through keyword searching. If you type for example "coloring books" into the Facebook search bar, your search will return: Coloring Book titled pages created by people, coloring book groups, people who use this keyword in their name and sub-title "about" lines, top posts and latest posts containing the keyword, videos that people have posted with the phrase in the titles, events relating to this phrase, etc. So creating business page verticals within your Facebook presence can be a very good idea.

Next tip - do a little research - use the Facebook search bar to check out different keyword phrases and when you find good ones that people actively search on - use them with associated hash tags in your business page posts to help people find you. Your "People Reached" numbers will go up.

Do you want to get people to your other online assets such as webpages? Start writing, posting and sharing Facebook "Notes" - basically here you are writing articles and posting them on Facebook. A couple very useful tips in this regard: Write the full "Blog Post" or "Article" on your web or blog site. Then, go to Facebook and in your "Note" write the blog/article summary and not the rest of it. Next, put a line in the Facebook post with a backlink to your web/blogsite complete article under some anchor text that says something like "Click Here to Read the Full Article". You are now driving traffic back to your business site where you can use lead magnets to capture e-mail addresses and you can sell them all your business products and services - as a bonus benefit, this helps to increase your website presence in the eyes of popular search engines like Google.

Find and join niche targeted groups. Then when you post related articles, videos, advertisement blurbs, shareable content, etc. "Share" them to these groups. This extends your brand awareness to potentially tens of thousands of people interested in the same topics that you are marketing to.

Go under the "Manage Tabs" button on your business page and add the "Shop" button to your page. Now, you can setup and highlight some of your best-selling products on your Facebook business page and you can share these products in your online posts. When people click to learn more, you can direct them back to your website and shopping cart to buy them by "tagging" the product image. FYI, a window opens up when tagging so you can enter the URL of the webpage you want to direct them to.

Another tab option I recently discovered and really like is the "Services" tab. Here you can market your time and services offered to others. I have used this feature on my Facebook business pages and I point these pages directly back to my online time-booking system webpage that I have built into my business website - I love this feature. If you are looking to get consulting or "Freelancing" jobs, here is a great way to increase your exposure and have people find you and book your time.

Post videos to Facebook directly. Facebook likes sharing videos. Again, as you publish these to Facebook, be sure to craft your video titles so they contain good useable keyword phrases and don't neglect the use of hash tags in your video description areas.

Take some time to explore the business pages of others in similar niches as yours and when you find popular ones, go under the "More" tab displayed just below or on their business page background image and then select the "Like as Your Page" button to link them back to your business page. Here's what this does for you:

First, you can't comment on another business page as your page unless you like it as your page first. When you do then comment on another page as your page, the post you create builds visibility for your business page so you can get more traffic to your own business. Lastly, you can start to see in your news feeds content published to that other page - helps you keep track of the goings on there and who is posting content to that page - and you never know, some of that content could useful to you.

In summary, keep at it - you can drive a lot of organic Facebook views to your website just by taking the time to explore and work Facebook with your posts, shares, group involvements, the use of hash tags in your posts, liking other business pages, commenting on other pages, opening your Facebook "Shop", etc.

The increased business exposure you receive from this extra effort, will earn you dividends.

Learn Online Marketing And Grow Your Business

If you are running an online business, it is imperative that you learn online marketing. Wait a minute. You can just hire online experts and let them do all the hard work, right? Wrong! Take it from a person who made it big in the business world. Donald Trump's first lesson from his dad is this: "know everything you can about what you are doing." Hence, if you are marketing your business online, you have to learn online marketing.

It is true that it is faster and cheaper to pay for someone do the job than spend time learning about it, but it goes against all the principles of doing the business correctly. There are three problems with this kind of approach: first, if you let others run your business, you risk yourself of being dependent on them. Second, your business's growth is dependent on your personal growth. In other words, if you don't learn new skills, your business will not expand. Third, if you don't know what you are doing, you don't know where you are going.

Educate Yourself

Take time to learn how to market online or at least its fundamentals if you are just starting. Just like any other profession, you have to keep on learning. If you want to be involved in online marketing and be good at it, you need to know what's happening, how it is evolving, and what are the latest methods and techniques you can apply. There's just no way around it.

You can approach it either by taking an online course or by self study. There are official online courses which require you to enroll on a distance learning program set up by schools. This is a paid program, but the things you learn are all worth it. If you are okay with doing things on your own, then you can learn online marketing from free online courses.

There are a lot of materials on the internet where you can learn internet marketing for free. You can watch videos, read articles, subscribe on newsletters, and download ebooks. You can attend free live webinars and listen to podcasts.

Study different online marketing terminologies and different techniques and why they are effective. Learn from stories of successful online businesses. Study your opponents by learning what they do and how they do it. Do not stop learning. If online marketing is your business, you have to treat it as such.

What's The Best Online Business For You?

There are all sorts of different online business programs, plans, ideas and concepts out there on the internet. Is one better than the other? It's impossible to say that one works better than another because it all depends on the type of person you are. The type of online business that your next door neighbour runs might be highly profitable for them, but a real challenge for you.

To help you decide on the best online business to suit you, here are the 3 popular online business models. They all work, but which one do you like best?

1. You've No Products To Sell But You Want To Start Your Own Online Business

If you've woken up to the fact that the online business world is the biggest marketplace ever and people are buying and selling online all the time, but you've got nothing to sell, what can you do?

Simple. You sell products or services that have been created by other businesses. This is called affiliate marketing. Think of it being like a commission paid sales person. You promote and sell products or services online and when you make a sale, the product owner pays you a commission.

It's a great way to start an online business because there are affiliate products available to sell in just about every industry you can imagine. You don't have to pre-buy and hold any stock and the product owner sorts out the payment systems and product delivery.

2. What If You've Got A Product (Or Product Idea) And You Want To Sell It Online?

You don't have to sell other people's products if you've got your own. Plus, you get to keep all the profits. The best products to sell online are digital products. These can be in the format of an eBook, a report, a video course or an audio series. A digital products is something that a customer can download it instantly when they buy it from you. If you have an interest or special knowledge about a subject matter you can easily create a digital product and sell it online.

Although there is a lot of free information on the internet, selling information in the form of courses, insider tips or tutorials is big business on the internet. The great thing about creating a digital product is that you only have to create it once and you can sell it time and time again.

3. Have You've Got Skills That People Will Pay For?

If you have a particular skill set you can sell those skills online. This could include business education, writing copy for websites, graphic design, website development and even being a virtual secretary. Websites like Elance and UpWork have a thousands of customers who are looking for people that can provide skills in return for payment. Are you one of those skilled people?

Regardless of your age, education, technical skills or qualifications there are no specific requirements for being a successful online entrepreneur. However you will be more successful with a solid business model to work from, clear direction, training and support.

Create Your Own Business From Home - Is It Possible To Quit Your Job And Reinvent Your Future?

Creating a business from home is not as difficult as people may think. There are a multitude of home businesses that offer people the chance to earn income from the comfort of their own home. All you have to do is find the right home business opportunity to join. Better Business Bureau is a non-profit organization that gives people the opportunity to get an objective review on most home business opportunities. If you are searching for the right opportunity, this non-profit organization is a safe place to see if an opportunity is legit or not.

According to home business magazine, marketing contributes to 58% of a business's success.

Once you find the right opportunity, you will have to use effective marketing techniques. Being involved with the right opportunity is half the battle, you will have to use up-to-date techniques in order to get the best attention from the marketplace. Below are some effective marketing techniques to use when you are launching your marketing campaign.

1. Seasonal marketing

Seasonal marketing is a great way to attract new customers for your brand. For retailers like Hallmark, Valentine's day represents the biggest portion of their business, according to Google. I would recommend that you do some research as to when your products are most in season for your market. If you know when your products and services are in season, you will be able to find demand and promote your products at the best possible time. I would recommend that you go on any search engine and search for free trend-tracking services in order to see when it will be the best time for you to market your product.

2. PR marketing

This type of marketing is expensive. If you have a big budget, you can use the power of public relations in order to bring awareness to your product. When Steve Jobs was alive, apple constantly held press conferences to announce new products. You can go on any search engine and research the best public relation marketing services in order to get started. I suggest that you start off with the lowest possible budget first before going to the more expensive packages.

3. Online marketing

Online marketing has elevated to a new level. You can use a multitude of online marketing services, like e-mail lists, in order to come in direct contact with the people who are interested in what you have to offer. To succeed in e-mail lists, you will have to master the art of prospecting and closing. Once people respond to your promotional e-mails, it is best to call them in order share what your product has to offer. You can master the art of calling leads by getting prospecting and closing scripts on any search engine.

According to home business magazine, any person who is affiliated with a home business opportunity can succeed as long as they master effective marketing techniques.

How To Write An eBook Template

If you operate an online business, there are some very good reasons to write an eBook. Your own eBook will help to establish you as a recognized specialist in your field.

Another reason to consider writing your own eBook is the passive income it can generate for you. You do the work once and you can sell the eBook again and again on your website.

Here's the template for writing an eBook.

Break It Down Into Workable Tasks

The hardest part of writing an eBook is the title, first and last sentence. Breaking it down makes each task seem smaller and more manageable. When you look at the whole project, it seems like an impossible task, but if you can get the project started, even if not perfectly, at least you have begun to get the words down.

Determine A Good Working Title

Titles help you to concentrate writing on your subject matter. Write down a few different titles and gradually you'll find that one that starts to grow on you. Your title will guide you in predicting and responding to your readers' questions.

Have A Good Reason For Your eBook

Be absolutely clear what issue you're dealing with and how your eBook will fix that issue for your target audience. Make sure there's good reason to write your eBook so that it helps your target audience.

Don't Write For Everyone

Remember you're writing an eBook for your target audience. It's not possible to write an eBook that will be liked and read by everybody. Know the expected age range of your readers, their main interests and the socio-economic group they belong to.

Keep Your Writing Interesting

Generally, stories, testimonials, pictures, charts, guidance and tips will keep an audience reading the pages. Use sidebars on the page for quick, accessible information. This will help break up the density of the page.

Let Somebody Read It First

Before you release your eBook, get someone to read it first. They may spot something that you have missed. Also don't forget to make backups of all your work. There's nothing worse than having your eBook practically completed only to lose it if your computer crashes all of a sudden.

Write Down Your Objectives

The more you know your objective, the less complicated the actual writing will be. Are you writing an eBook to sell it as an information product on your website? Or do you want to offer it as a free gift to encourage people to opt in to your email list? The more you know about how you plan to publish it, the more you can write toward that objective.

The number one excuse for not writing an eBook is that people say they don't have enough time. But even the busiest people have more than enough time over 365 days to write several eBooks, much less a single one! The secret is to follow a proven system that has worked for others.

Can Adults With Asperger's Syndrome Succeed in Online Marketing?

More and more people are turning to online marketing in order to supplement their regular income or to earn a full-time income. Compared to any offline business, the start-up costs are minimal, and once up and running, passive income can be earned without the need to leave the house at all, except to cash in and out of the bank. Getting started can be challenging. It can take hours of hard work to configure a website and write out automated emails in such a way as to generate an online income, and it may take several attempts to succeed. However, once the setting up process is finished, the rewards for success can be highly lucrative.

For the adult with Asperger's Syndrome, who may be preoccupied by their own specialist interests, and may to struggle with the social aspects of employment, earning a living through online marketing in a chosen niche could be the ideal full-time occupation.

The Basics of Online Marketing

Online marketing involves promoting either your own products for sale or another person's products as an affiliate. An affiliate will earn a commission for every sale made through their affiliate links. In order to achieve online marketing success, it is imperative that the internet marketer finds a profitable niche, builds up a mailing list by offering information that is of value to people interested in that niche, and then refers these potential customers to products or services that may be of interest to them. Profitable niches can include anything from weight loss, to gardening, to learning to fly.

Why Internet Marketing May Suit Adults with Asperger's Syndrome

Adults with Asperger's Syndrome tend to gravitate towards deep and specialist interests, as opposed to having a broad range of interests, and can often find their minds to be totally driven by their obsessions, constantly seeking out new information and accumulating a wealth of unusual or specialist knowledge. As the job of an online marketer involves offering useful information to potential customers, the internet marketer with Asperger's Syndrome who is able to channel their own specialist interest into a profitable niche could potentially become hugely successful, because they would naturally be discovering more knowledge and information to pass on to their followers. Their income would effectively be earned by them spending their time talking online about the things that interest them most.

At the same time, internet marketing by nature is a job that involves working independently. This would suit many adults with Asperger's Syndrome, as it would remove any anxieties about the social aspects of employment, and give them control of any issues that may otherwise cause stress.

However, there are challenges and risks associated with online marketing. The three biggest challenges to the aspiring Asperger's internet marketer are most likely to be the following:

  • Information Overload
  • Channeling a Specialist Interest into a Profitable Niche
  • Preparing for Change

These challenges should not be a barrier to the aspiring Asperger's online marketer. They are simply issues that require awareness and preparation.

Information Overload

The biggest hurdle to face in the online marketing world can be knowing how to get started. Clear and easy to understand information for the beginner can be hard to find, as so much of the information available online comes from established marketers promoting their own products, often promising totally unrealistic outcomes. Distinguishing between valuable content and online scams may prove to be a hard and hazardous task for someone with Asperger's Syndrome.

Channeling a Specialist Interest Into A Profitable Niche

Just because a person has a specialist interest and an area of expertise does not automatically mean that their interest will translate into a profitable niche. The information an online marketer offers to their followers has to be something that enough people consider to be of value and for which they are prepared to pay. Someone obsessed with cars, trains, or a particular TV series will need to give considerable thought and research into how they can make the knowledge they have valuable to other individuals, who most likely will not have Asperger's Syndrome. For instance, few people will be enticed by a website offering a list of car specifications, but they may well be drawn to information that shows them how they can save money on their cars. It is down to the online marketer to understand what questions people are asking within their niche and communicate the answers to their followers.

The Online Marketer Needs to be Prepared for Change

Another such risk is that online earnings are likely to vary from month to month and become unpredictable. While it is true that a successful online business will generate passive income for the online marketer, the Asperger's marketer will need to be prepared for change, in both keeping up-to-date with the most sought-after information in their niche, and in technology. An approach that may prove hugely profitable for a period of time may suddenly become outdated and the income may suddenly dry up. The Asperger's marketer therefore needs to be aware of potential changes that may affect their business, and know where they can seek the necessary help and information required to keep their business model up-to-date and profitable.

With these challenges in mind, it is vital that any internet marketer, with or without Asperger's Syndrome, has access to clear, unbiased information and a trustworthy support network for the process of getting started and in the ongoing development of any online business. Unfortunately there are numerous money making schemes being promoted across the internet that make tremendous promises but for which the instructions are neither clear nor trustworthy, and will prove to be a time and money waster.

Ticket to Success and Sales - Online Marketing

"Ignoring online marketing is like opening a business but not telling anyone." - Anonymous

Nothing sums up the brilliance of online marketing in today's scenario quite like this quote. Online marketing is all about being at the right place at the right time. With the virtual space invading every nook and corner of our lives, this is where you'll find your audience.

Online is the place to be

From social media to e-commerce portals, our present generations wake up to their handset screens, emote only through in beeps and blocks. No one physically meets or greets anymore, instead we only 'like' and 'comment'. So, like any good marketing strategy that starts with going where the customer goes, the time now is to go digital. Online marketing has become the latest fad, a definite marketing must-do all the multi- national companies. Online marketing companies and services are the most sought after by major corporations. The benefits of online marketing when compared to its counterparts - the traditional/offline marketing, is so shiny and bright, that it has become impossible to turn a blind eye. Let's review the prime benefits:

'The World is your Stage': With online marketing services, your reach is truly magnanimous. It expands in terms of demographic as well as relevance. Deep pockets and hefty bank account are no longer the requisites to get noticed and sell products. For example, A local farmer from one side of the world, can now take his produce and showcase it online to reach a potential customer living on the other side. All he'll need to do is to use the internet to market this product, alongside some smart SEO strategies to place it amidst the right crowd.
'Laugh all the way to the bank'- It's no surprise rappers worldwide dish out such catch-phrases, ever so often. After all, how can anyone run from the fact that every business and corporation is the world works towards - 'profit' aka revenue, return, moolah? So, when the outcomes are so luring, who wouldn't jump? With the chance to reach the target audience directly and personally, the sales are bound to go up, by default.

'Straight from the horse's mouth' - With digital marketing you can document every move of your consumer. In the virtual space, everything becomes transparent - the good, bad and the ugly is out in the open for every to judge. No beating around the bush, you will get immediate feedback and instant report of your product's performance. You can directly reach out to your customer and build a personal bond. Services can be customized. Also, since everyone is online all the time, being in this place will make you more visible.

'Marking your territory' - Digital marketing promises to cut marketing costs drastically. Over and above all other benefits, the Passover from traditional or offline marketing to online is bound to be tremendously economical. Your online marketing agency will help you pick your audience and invest in reaching out only to them. It will also reduce your cost per unique user. For example: while a 5000 AED investment on a hoarding or event sponsorship reach about 5000 prospective customers, an online campaign through a viral video on social media will keep 10 times fold more.

'Something for everyone' - Online marketing space isn't reserved for the who's who of the business world. Even a small business or a start- up can reap benefits in all the entirety. That's the beauty of this medium. Such opportunity presents a fair chance to businesses to prove their mettle purely based on the quality of services/product. For the first time, a small enterprise can give the market's big fish a run for its money. Making it an all-inclusive environment to run business in.
'Survival of the fittest' - The business world is booming, everyone wants a piece of it. So, in order to survive this mad rush, you have to a step ahead, always. Being in the digital gives you direct insights in your markets and demography. It gives you the opportunity to gauge your competitors move and plan a rebuttal. Online marketing companies help in giving your brand the edge and new-age glow. Hence, assuring the consumer's that the product/services that you offer are state-of-the-art and cutting edge in all its entirety.

How to Use Blogs As an Online Promotion Tool

Although rubbished earlier as being nothing more than vehicles for people to channel their frustrations and daily ramblings, blogs today are an indispensable tool for the marketer and growing business. Your blog can say a lot about you, your company, and the products you offer because they serve as extensions of your brand's or product's personality (in the case of businesses) or as extensions of yourself (private blogs).

Blogs are a force to reckon with when it comes to online promotion, case in point - Lifehacker, and what it has done for thousands of previously never-heard-of-but-now-oh-so-popular programs such as Rainmeter.

Read the following to help mold a positive perception of your offerings and to communicate with the very people who will matter most to your business:

§ Generate traffic to your blog:

Blogs do get picked up by search engines, but that in itself takes some time for them to do so; not to mention that you may end up disappointed after Googling your blog and seeing it on the 53rd page of the search results. It is essential that you pull all the right stops in getting all the blog index websites like Technorati and good ol' Google to pick up keywords and meta tags contained for quicker indexing.

Use SEO websites to get those search engines pick up your posts and updates to grab more eyeballs. Also add Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, Delicious, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter buttons to your blog to get more folks interested.

§ Email and RSS:

A blog is worth nothing if it does not include an email subscription and RSS feed feature. Both allow existing as well as potential customers to keep in touch with you, ask you questions and get the opportunity to check out what they've missed via an RSS feed reader or just simply viewing your blog posts in their mailbox. It cannot be stressed how important connecting with your target audience, being approachable and generating goodwill is for your business.

§ Grab some attention:

Give away free samples to frequent visitors. Also, conduct contests and special 'promos'. These would serve as 'test runs' to actually gain valuable feedback and suggestions from people who are willing to try out your product. Go 'out there' and let people gauge whether there is any room for improvement.

Conduct polls, post video demonstrations and add rating features to your blog. Start Q&A sessions, post an FAQ link that directs them to your website and resolve doubts by taking part in discussions. Individuals are spending their valuable time in visiting and checking out your space, so treat them like you would any 'expert' and be open to new ideas and inputs so you can use this first hand information to boost your sales.

§ Complement your blog with Twitter:

Use Twitter updates to send multiple, concise messages to the community and make announcements, post new offers, send online coupons and give people real time updates about your business.

§ Blog advertising:

If you don't have the time or inclination to be bothered with a blog, use the platform to advertise your product. Most research findings have shown blog readers and visitors to be an important part of niche markets; a huge majority are well read people and users of 'new products'. This is an opportunity for you to tap into this segment and substantially broaden your market base.

It would be a great thing if you also utilized the web's most popular blogging tools to become an efficient blogger. Remember, blogging is about PR as well, so don't overlook the platform when it comes to crisis management and reinforcement of a positive image for you and your business.

Everywhere a Click Click - Can a Home Based Online Business Work For Me?

Personally this was a question I asked myself, day in and day out for over 6 months. At the end of those 6 months, I was none the richer or poorer. One thing was was sure. I had lost 6 months...

Procrastination is the thief of time; What many people do not realise, is that it is also the thief of opportunity. In the world we live in today, that can often define us and separate the success stories from the failures.

There is one thing I would like to say to you as a potential home entrepreneur is this   'Get Started!'

A click of the mouse will not get you rich or make you famous. What it will do for you is get you going. By finding the right opportunity and following it up you have now started in the right direction. You will have to follow this up with a series of clicks and more tapping away at the keyboard and getting your strategy right. You will have to refine your goals, learn new skills and discard old ones. You will have to learn to improvise and innovate. The list goes on.

Every Entrepreneur goes through a learning curve. One of the most important if not the Most Important thing you will need to learn is Self Discipline. This could make or break your business. Running a business from home does have its pros and cons. You are now your own paymaster and you have to realise that unlike working for somebody else, you now have to answer to yourself. You cannot blame the situation you find yourself in or blame the conditions around you. It definitely won’t put money in your bank account.

You alone can empower yourself to be successful. So get started!

First Steps to Online Marketing

The first steps to work yourself through when you have decided to take the step towards online marketing there are a few things you need to think about.
-Why do I want to market online?
-What do I want to market online?
-What do I know about marketing online?
If the answer is "I don't know", today is your lucky day. I will share some of the steps that I have learnt about online marketing through endless testing and tweaking.

YOUR WHY

Why do you want to market online?
Is it to enhance your offline business?
Being able to make money without leaving your home?
or...
Online marketing is easier than marketing offline, because online marketing takes care of itself and makes you money on autopilot?
If it's the last answer you're in for a big surprise. There is no such thing as EASY or AUTOPILOT in online marketing. Well, sure it is but not in the way many think. Online marketing is simple but not easy. Which means, it takes a lot of work to set it up and you need to be constantly tweaking and testing to maximize your efficiency and profits. I hope I didn't scare you off now. Online marketing is lots of fun and you could make friends all over the world.

YOUR MARKET/NICHE

So where do one start when you figured out why?
A specific market. Your Niche. Simple as that.
So, what is a niche and where do I find my market?
Well, there are a lot of places to find that. First of all. You'll want to target a niche that is actually profitable. What you don't want is to market a niche where no one is ever buying anything or a niche that pays very low. You want a niche that is in trend so to speak. It is what everyone is talking about and what people are interested in learning, using and purchasing.
For example.
Learning online marketing is a big niche with loads of people who are looking for information about it everyday. To find a monetizable niche you will need to look at the trends.
Ever seen the basket ball through the water hose?
Anyway, the trends is what people are interested in and what people are buying.
What are people looking for?
What are their main concerns?
When it comes to online marketing these are the most important questions to find an answer to. So you'll need to do some research. Did I say some. I mean a lot. You could basically say that online MARKETing is all about MARKET research. If you know what you're market desires you know what to MARKET to them. If you want to stay ahead in the online marketing game. Keep a journal on your daily activities.
1 year from now, you will have loads and loads of information that you could use. By then your online marketing business will be a lot different and you will have a different view on this. By then you will probably have forgotten what is was like when you wanted to learn online marketing. Why not keep a journal on you questions and utilize it when you decide you need to teach a spouse, friend or a new team member about online marketing.
What was the questions you had back then?
Well, it's easy for you now. They are what you ask today. So keep them written down as research for a later project and take notes on your struggles, issues and short comings when learning online marketing. Now, this is just to get you started so you could use it in the future.
What about now? Now is when you have your problems. How do you solve them and get going with your online marketing business?
Here it is...

YOUR SKILLS

You have a set of certain skills, I'm sure.
Are these skills relevant to marketing and business?
If not, you might want to consider acquiring a set of those skills before throwing yourself into doing business. Whether online or offline. The first thing you should do is to assess your skill tree. A simple mind map could do the trick or just a list with what you know. Rank them on how experienced and good you are at a skill.
Circle the top 3 skills you are most proficient in. Are that very good? Great!
Are they at all profitable or monetizable. Meaning could they make you money (with a little fantasy and imagination) If not, pick the next skill. That's your main focus to begin with. Now, underline the 3 bottom skills that you're not very or, at all proficient in but still is in context with your top skills. Those are the skills that you should focus on learning. 1 should be online marketing.
Apply the same rule as with your top skills but with the little tweak, Are they useful and do they enhance your top 3?

NEXT STEP!

Now, you have some skills that you are good at and some that you are going to focus on learning. With time you will have 6 skills that you are very good at.
Go through this article again and apply the steps.
At this point, we're not sure you have all the information in this topic you need to understand it fully.
Now, we realize that this article can not fit a whole instruction to online marketing so I recorded a video series to get you started.

The 4 M’s For Your Book

4 M's

Today’s authors can just write about anything under the sun the opportunities are endless, the ideas are bountiful, and online tools like Google and Grammarly are free and easy to use (unless they want to access advanced features, they will have to sign up for premium accounts). Potential readership for every genre or niche continues to expand, and it has become easy for both aspiring and veteran writers to self-publish and market their own material all thanks to technology.

But still, when it comes to attaining commercial and critical acclaim under the increasingly digitally connected literary atmosphere, authors will have to work harder and smarter or else they will not get their share of success and readership. So when writing or marketing their book, authors should mind their M’s:

Market

Every author, whether new or old, should know the difference between their target market and their niche (or genre, depending on term used by authors). They are not synonymous as there is an important distinction between the two: target market is the group of readers the author serves (or aims to serve), and niche (or genre) is the service the author offers to their target market.

To have a market is to serve. When choosing what market to write for, an author should:

Determine where to find readers who are looking for what they are writing about.
Let the readers in that target market know they are offering them something brand new and that they are dedicating their work to them.

Message

Every author ought to have something new or unique to share with their target readers or else they would just saturate the bookshelves or Amazon with boring books and ordinary stories. Authors need not to have a fancy cover it’s the message that matters. Authors need to ponder:

What is the message or lesson they want to impart?Do they offer a new interpretation, discovery or angle of common storylines or subjects? Do they create something new or just rehash old stuff?
What makes their book autobiography, memoir, thriller, sci-fi, romance, children’s, young adult, spirituality, etc. different from the rest?
What makes them think readers should or will buy their book?

Authors should mind what they offer to their readers. It is their obligation to get or help their readers understand and experience the message and not just buy the book.

Media

Not only the Internet has made it possible for millions of people all over the world to self-publish and market their book, but it has also made the competition intense. But authors should not feel overwhelmed by the competition. By using the right tools in the right way, they can position themselves better in the marketplace.

There are different forms of media that authors could utilize to their advantage according to their expertise, time and budget. Social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, are free and easy to use, but to maximize their marketing potential or unlock their advertising features, they will need to sign up for a business account or pay for a premium account.

Authors should also make use of book trailers, which they could upload to YouTube or share on their social accounts. They should also consider creating their own website or blog where they can create articles on topics related to their book. They could either create their own trailer and website or else hire an expert to do it for them.

Measurement

What does an author want to accomplish with their book in terms of commercial and critical aspects? It depends if media outlets like The New York Times and Time magazine feature the book in their lists of bestsellers or tops books. That seems to be an ambitious goal for most authors, but digital tools and social media provide metrics authors could track for themselves.

Maximizing the features of Facebook Insights, authors could track how many page views they get or how many people have seen their ads. With Twitter Analytics, they could track the number of times people saw their tweets and how many people have engaged with it. Whatever the author wants to measure, their desired digital tool or social media could provide them the appropriate metric.

It is amazing technology has provided authors opportunities to market their own book and measure their chance of success.
