How to Increase Your Twitter Followers?

What's the big idea about having Twitter followers?? This is a question I asked myself for quite some time. What purpose does a big list of Twitter followers serve? How do you increase the number of your followers?

All these are questions asked by users as well as business owners who would like to use Twitter as a professional marketing platform.

We all want to increase our Twitter followers of course. We all want people to read our updates. As a matter of fact, it's not difficult to build an outstanding profile; however, what you need is to understand how to do all this. What matters the most is not how you tweet or what you say on your updates, but what is important is who you actually are and how you use Twitter.

There are so many articles out there on how to grow your Twitter followers. Many of them teach you how to provide value in your tweets so that you can increase your followers.

My idea is: you don't need a million followers to promote your business online. Why? Because if you look at the list of Twitter users with the most followers you will that almost everyone on that list is a celebrity. Those people did not build their lists from scratch on Twitter! No way! These celebrities have been building their audience for years before Twitter became popular! So when they go onto Twitter, they automatically built a long list of followers because they were already famous!

Now, you may be wondering: why shouldn't I try to get millions of followers like those celebrities?

I am not saying you shouldn't get millions. What I am trying to say here is what you need are quality followers. In other words: you don't need every Tom, Dick and Harry to follow you on Twitter; you need people who are in your niche, people who are interested in the product or service you are offering. Does it make sense now?

This does not mean that can't build a targeted Twitter list unless you are rich and famous. No. As I mentioned earlier, it is not about what you tweet, but it's about how you use Twitter. So it's about quality.

In my opinion, there is no right or wrong way to use Twitter. But here are a few examples of things I use myself and that might help you get more followers:

Treat your Twitter profile as if it were your website or blog:

What's the use of having a blog or a website if nobody is visiting them? That is why we strive day and night to drive traffic to our websites and blogs, right?

Well, what would you think if I told you that you should treat your Twitter profile as if it were your website or blog? In other words, you should attract traffic to your Twitter profile just the exact same way you would do for your website or blog. So the more traffic you drive to your Twitter profile, the more followers you will have.

But again, as I mentioned before: QUALITY! So the more targeted, the better it is for you!

This sounds like everyone knows it. However, many people unfortunately overlook this very important detail. Instead, they concentrate on less important things like the frequency of Twitter usage.

But as I mentioned earlier, it is HOW you use Twitter. So the key is sending traffic to your profile.

When fishing, when you want to catch as many fish as possible, you use a large net and spread it as far as you can, right? Likewise, when you want to build your Twitter profile you should keep working on sending visitors to your profile.

With that in mind, you want to offer some sort of incentive. Why would someone visit your blog or website? They are looking for freebies. Why would someone follow you on Twitter? What's in it for your visitors? Apart from your friends and relatives, if someone wants to follow you on Twitter, they will most definitely expect some kind of incentive in return. So just the same way you offer free giveaways on your blog and website, you should think of doing the same thing on your Twitter! It could be anything: a free report, a case study, a list of tips, anything really. As long as your visitor/ follower will benefit from it in some way.

Now the fun part: how would you attract traffic to your Twitter profile?

I will give you a few pointers that have been working for me:

  • Make a cool nice looking banner ad (or have it made) and post it on your blog, website, forums etc. to attract visitors to your profile.
  • Include links to your Twitter profile from your blogs and forum threads.
  • Always include your Twitter profile link in your forum signatures.
  • If possible, have your blog show your Twitter updates on the side of the page. Some blogs allow that like blogspot.com (Google)
  • Learn to pitch Twitter influences with articles relevant to your visitors' interests.
  • Once you build up a relationship with your followers, ask them to recommend your profile to their friends and other users and offer to do the same for them.

There is another way to increase your Twitter followers which is simply to follow other users on Twitter. But you must be very careful with this as you might get reported as a spammer.

Let's discuss this method in detail:

This method has worked for many people when Twitter was "the new thing". Nowadays, people are more aware of spammers and many tools; such as Twitter Blacklist have been developed to help Twitter users chase spammers away.

Most Twitter users don't appreciate it when you simply follow them for the purpose of broadcasting your updates without building a relationship with them.

My advice to you: if you want to build a large list of Twitter followers, start by creating a presence online. Give advice, offer free giveaways, tips, tutorials, etc. Be active on your blog. Be consistent about giving new and updated information. Share your knowledge online. Then people will start following you without you asking them. Because by that time, you have already built up credibility online; therefore, people will start subscribing to your blog and follow you on Twitter because you offer value and because they know you're the real deal.

How to Use Blogs As an Online Promotion Tool

Although rubbished earlier as being nothing more than vehicles for people to channel their frustrations and daily ramblings, blogs today are an indispensable tool for the marketer and growing business. Your blog can say a lot about you, your company, and the products you offer because they serve as extensions of your brand's or product's personality (in the case of businesses) or as extensions of yourself (private blogs).

Blogs are a force to reckon with when it comes to online promotion, case in point - Lifehacker, and what it has done for thousands of previously never-heard-of-but-now-oh-so-popular programs such as Rainmeter.

Read the following to help mold a positive perception of your offerings and to communicate with the very people who will matter most to your business:

§ Generate traffic to your blog:

Blogs do get picked up by search engines, but that in itself takes some time for them to do so; not to mention that you may end up disappointed after Googling your blog and seeing it on the 53rd page of the search results. It is essential that you pull all the right stops in getting all the blog index websites like Technorati and good ol' Google to pick up keywords and meta tags contained for quicker indexing.

Use SEO websites to get those search engines pick up your posts and updates to grab more eyeballs. Also add Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, Delicious, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter buttons to your blog to get more folks interested.

§ Email and RSS:

A blog is worth nothing if it does not include an email subscription and RSS feed feature. Both allow existing as well as potential customers to keep in touch with you, ask you questions and get the opportunity to check out what they've missed via an RSS feed reader or just simply viewing your blog posts in their mailbox. It cannot be stressed how important connecting with your target audience, being approachable and generating goodwill is for your business.

§ Grab some attention:

Give away free samples to frequent visitors. Also, conduct contests and special 'promos'. These would serve as 'test runs' to actually gain valuable feedback and suggestions from people who are willing to try out your product. Go 'out there' and let people gauge whether there is any room for improvement.

Conduct polls, post video demonstrations and add rating features to your blog. Start Q&A sessions, post an FAQ link that directs them to your website and resolve doubts by taking part in discussions. Individuals are spending their valuable time in visiting and checking out your space, so treat them like you would any 'expert' and be open to new ideas and inputs so you can use this first hand information to boost your sales.

§ Complement your blog with Twitter:

Use Twitter updates to send multiple, concise messages to the community and make announcements, post new offers, send online coupons and give people real time updates about your business.

§ Blog advertising:

If you don't have the time or inclination to be bothered with a blog, use the platform to advertise your product. Most research findings have shown blog readers and visitors to be an important part of niche markets; a huge majority are well read people and users of 'new products'. This is an opportunity for you to tap into this segment and substantially broaden your market base.

It would be a great thing if you also utilized the web's most popular blogging tools to become an efficient blogger. Remember, blogging is about PR as well, so don't overlook the platform when it comes to crisis management and reinforcement of a positive image for you and your business.

Make Money From Your Blog - With Two Simple Tweaks

Are you still trying to make money from your blog? You'll know exactly how to make this happen quickly when you read and use the information in this article.

I can remember when I first heard that one of the easy ways to make money on line was to start a blog. I'm sure you've heard the same thing. Trouble is it's not uncommon to get a blog up and running and then wait... and wait... and wait...

Weeks, months and sometimes years go by and you're still waiting to see any money from your blog.

Does that sound familiar?

It's frustrating to do a search on Google and see your competitors' sites in the top search results. You can have great content or fantastic products on your site, but if you don't show up in those first search results, driving traffic to your site can be as difficult as searching for a needle in a hay stack. And if you are not getting traffic to your site, then there is no way you can make the money from your blog that is truly possible.

Driving Traffic To Your Blog

The first step to getting noticed and driving traffic to your blog is to make certain every piece of content on your site is optimized for search. This means your posts should be relevant to both your readers and to the search engines. Your long term goal is to be ranked on the first page of the major search engine results. This will give you visibility and brings traffic to your site.

It helps if you understand the search process a little bit. Firstly you must be clear on what it is you have to offer, and who your target market is. When people are looking for something on the internet, they will type one or several words into the search field. Knowing what these words are is the first secret to ensure you make money from your blog. When you have this answer, you can then use tools such as Google Keyword Tool and find even more keywords and keyword phrases that your target market may be searching for.

Use these keywords and phrases as the focus for all content within your site. Write your posts to rank highly by selecting just one keyword or phrase for each separate post.

Quality Links

The second secret to make money from your blog is to sprinkle links to other highly ranking sites throughout your content. Sometimes these can be links to affiliate offers where you will get paid a commission if a purchase is made, or it could be to another post where the reader can learn more about a topic and this next post can also include links.

If you want to get started quickly you can join me in using a blogging platform which is my favourite. It's already optimized and linked to highly ranked authority sites. I love the fact that you can gain instant access and have a blog that is all set up and ready to go within minutes. All you need to do is to select the topic, product or service that you are going to start blogging about, and before you now it, you will see how easy it can be to make money from your blog.

Major Challenges - Blogging

The major challenge that many blog owners (bloggers) are facing is inadequate targeted traffic. Without targeted traffic, a blog will never flourish. When you realize that your blog isn't attracting enough targeted traffic, you shouldn't give up.

It is normal for anyone to feel discouraged due to disappointments but giving up isn't a solution. Giving up is creating another problem of having not found a solution that works effectively. The best you can do instead of giving up is to find out how you'll drive targeted traffic to your blog.

So, why is your blog not receiving targeted traffic? Some of the reasons are as follows:

1.) Your blog is yet to be known since it is still new. It requires exposure.

2.) There is no enough content on your blog to attract people and for the search engines to rank your blog.

3.) The content you have published on your blog isn't of high-quality. Publishing mediocre content on your blog could be the reason why it lacks targeted traffic.

4.) The niche of your blog could be the reason for insufficient targeted traffic. If your blog is targeting a niche that is too competitive or the one that people are not interested in, then your blog will not attract any significant amount of targeted traffic.

5.) You haven't started selling a product that solves a particular problem or you could be selling a product that isn't useful.

6.) You haven't optimized your blog in the search engines. You have not used the search engine optimization techniques to optimize your blog.

7.) You haven't done list building and this has led you not to keep in touch with people who visit your blog. They visit your blog never to visit it again since they forget it.

8.) You have not captured people's attention. Your blog doesn't have content that is interesting for people to read. You haven't used headlines that will capture the attention of people. You haven't also posted videos or pictures that capture people's attention. You're not giving giveaways. People love getting things for free!

9.) Your blog contains many spelling and grammar mistakes. People will not want to go on reading a blog that has posts containing many spelling and grammar mistakes.

10.) Another reason for lack of targeted traffic is ignoring the readers and writing for the search engines. Focusing mainly to optimize your blog in the search engines instead of focusing on your readers will eventually make your readers to stop visiting your blog

Have you ever asked yourself how a single person keeps on updating his blog with fresh content regularly without running out of ideas? There are some bloggers that will leave you to wonder how they manage to write content regularly. No one can dispute their prolific writing skills.

For instance, Seth Godin updates his blog regularly with fresh content. When I was first introduced to blogging, I thought I won't be able to write. But with time, I now know that blogging isn't difficult. For the past three years, I have learned a lot about blogging. I have written articles for various blogs and websites. However, I'm yet to learn more about writing so that I become a better prolific writer.

Becoming a blogger is all about learning how to blog. Blogging isn't difficult as some people may tend to think. Below are four most important blogs that will teach you how to blog and how you can become a better blogger.

For instance, here is a quote I came across that made me realize how blogging has made it possible for a person to get support from people, "I was having problems with depression and anxiety disorder, and it felt like not blogging about it was creating a false history. When I did finally share the problems I was having, I was shocked -not only by the support that was given to me, but also by the incredible amount of people who admitted they struggled with the same thing."- Jenny Lawson

In fact, I encourage more youths to start blogging in order to inspire other youths who are facing various challenges such as starting a business, running a business, advancing career, unemployment, how to overcome substance abuse etc.

4.) Making Money Online: Start blogging to earn some money online if you haven't found your dream job. There are many opportunities online that you can use your blog to make money. The opportunities to make money online from a blog are just many. It is upon you to make a decision on how you're going to make money online blogging.

You'll be recognized as an expert when you share informative information on your blog and also on other blogs that allow guest blogging. Some people will seek your advice while there are those who will refer people to read your articles.

Blogging will also expose your talent, creativity, passion and your dedication. "Blogging is a great way to show your talents and interests to prospective employers, while adding an edge to your resume. If you blog consistently it shows your dedication, passions and creativity-all of which are key attributes employers look for in job candidates."- Lauren Conrad

6.) Blogging Improves Your Writing Skills: When you keep on blogging, with time you become a better writer. You'll learn how to express yourself better. Blogging improves your writing skills and also your skills to communicate with people.

Marketers should blog informative information about the products they're marketing so that people know how such products are going to be useful to them in solving various problems. Blogging builds better relationships between customers and businesses.
